FASHION - STYLE - LIFE
Until my late twenties I was a flannel & water kinda girl. I never really used anything on my skin to look after it. I then moved to face wipes and couldn’t believe how many I got through, so I decided that had to stop. Don’t get me wrong they are handy to have especially for going away. Face wipes and flannels were all I knew for a very long time, the thought of cleansers, toners and all just seemed very daunting. I then started with Micellar cleansing water and cotton pads and this worked really well. This pushed me on to try new things and I found some new faves. Removing make-up has never been so easy, so I wanted to share the things that I’ve been loving and are worth a try, without breaking the bank too.
No7 CLEANSING OIL
Over the last year I've tried many cleansing oils on my face to remove my make up. The No7 cleansing oil is by far one of my favourites. Simple to use and achieves everything I need. Happy days! I start by pumping three or four pumps into my hands. I apply to my full face of make-up and gently rub it all over my face, my eyes, eye lashes to get rid of all my make-up, waterproof mascara, and eye liner. This cleanser just melts all make up away it's brilliant. Once I’ve done that I start to rinse away and repeat if needed (usually once is fine). I use a hot clothier flannel then to wipe anything that might be left on my face. I would recommend this product over and over, I’ve nearly finished my second bottle. I love it, and it leaves my face feeling really clear and healthy and super soft.
SOAP&GLORY MAKE UP REMOVER.
You may have seen in my previous posts, I’m a fan of Soap&Glory, So after I have used the cleansing oil from No7 on my face, I use this 5in1 magnetizing micellar make-up remover. It contains natural cucumber juice & peach fruit extracts. This also cleanses, tones and smoothes the skin. I use this with some large cotton pads to gently remove any last bits of stubborn eyeliner marks on my eyes. Smells amazing and again works wonderfully on my sensitive skin. I’m nearly out of this so need to go and purchase another bottle.
BODY SHOP - ALOE VERA MOISTURISER.
I have really dry and sensitive skin so I always struggle with what products to use. I went into body shop as I've always liked body products from there, and thought it would be a great place to start looking. I looked at the skin care and I found this Aloe Vera face cream. I started by trying it before bed one evening just to make sure I didn't get any reactions. I was so happy as my skin felt brilliant when I woke and was definetly a lot more hydrated. I've been using this everyday under my make up and it seems to keep my dry skin at bay so it was definitely worth investing £13 in this product.
No7 EARLY DEFENCE EYE CREAM.
When I ask people how old I look they usually put me in the mid 20’s bracket which is cool. I hit 30 and thought to myself, should I be using anti-aging products now? My mum said yes! So I headed to No7 at Boots as I already used a lot of their products. They were super helpful and I chose this under eye cream which works for me. It’s really affordable and the cream itself isn’t too heavy. Early Defence is key, this is a great product to start using early on and there isn’t any shame in that. It’s super easy to use, dot around the eyes morning and night. I’ve been using for around 6 months now, mostly before bed. I can’t say I’ve noticed much difference however I haven’t got any new lines around my eyes so guess it’s working. I’m hoping if I continue to use this I will stay Youthful. It’s a really lovely product.
No7, COLOUR BALANCE PRIMER.
As well as my dry skin I suffer with redness too (think this is in my genes to be honest as both my mum and grandma suffer), I tried this No 7 colour balance primer which is a green cream. This product makes you look like the Hulk but applying after my moisturiser and leaving it sink in really helps take the redness out from across my cheeks, giving a nice even canvas for make-up. Really happy with this product as it doesn't dry my skin out too much unlike other green colour correctors. I recommended to my mum too and she also loves it. Thumbs up from me on this one No7.
Once all my skin is ready to roll I also like to remember to moisturise my lips, as they get so dry in the winter, and especially as I wear a lot of matte lipsticks. Working in an air conditioned environment most of the time, doesn’t help either so I really need this everywhere I go. I really like this Blistex product, and Carmex is great too, as I can throw them in my handbag.
Hopefully this will help anybody that was like me a few years back. My skin care routine is my new favourite part of the day. Thanks for reading, N xx
